Privacy Policy

Ao Bot Privacy & Data Promise

This policy explains how Ao Bot — a private companion for the Ao Server — collects, protects, and uses data when you interact with our bot, dashboard experiences, and supporting services.

Last updated October 28, 2025

Only the essentials.

1. What We Collect

Discord Profile Identifiers

We store your Discord user ID, username, and discriminator so Ao Bot can recognize you. This is required for leveling, economy systems, and personalization.

Progress & Economy Data

Items like your XP, coin balance, inventory, quest progress, battle pass status, and achievements are stored so that the game systems can work across sessions.

Feature Interactions

Certain commands log context-specific data (e.g., shop transactions, friend links, pet names) to provide history, leaderboards, and fairness safeguards.

Always for gameplay, never for sale.

2. How We Use It

Core functionality

XP gains, economy balances, achievements, and event unlocks rely on this data to work. Removing it would reset your progress.

Community safety

Moderation features, heist protections, and anti-cheat checks reference stored data to keep the community fair and secure.

Experiments & improvements

Aggregated insights (never personally identifying) help us improve balance, add events, and tune drop rates.

Secure and minimal.

3. Data Storage & Retention

Where data lives

Ao Bot uses encrypted storage managed by the AO Collective. Access is limited to the bot maintainers and trusted service operators.

How long we keep it

We keep your profile while you interact with the bot. Inactive accounts may be purged after extended dormancy as part of database maintenance.

Backups

Periodic encrypted backups exist to recover from outages or corruption. They follow the same retention approach and are rotated regularly.

Control stays with you.

4. Your Choices

Command-based controls

Use `/profile privacy` to review, download, or request deletion of your Ao Bot data. Removing data may reset progress.

Opting out

Declining the privacy prompt or requesting deletion prevents future use of Ao Bot features. We will honor deletion requests promptly.

Server moderation

Server administrators can manage privacy acceptance for their community, following the same policies.

We don’t sell. We don’t rent.

5. Sharing & Third Parties

No external advertisers

Ao Bot never sells your data or partners with ad networks. Your information is exclusively for Ao Server experiences.

Infrastructure partners

We rely on Discord APIs and secure hosting providers (like Cloudflare) to render the experience. These providers process minimal data to deliver services and follow their own privacy terms.

Legal compliance

If a valid legal request is received, we may disclose necessary data. You will be notified whenever legally permissible.

We’re here to help.
